I was honored to begin 2024 by being called back for Juilliard’s MFA program. I decided to audition on a whim, as motivation to get solid on some monologues- and was so excited make it to the final round of callbacks on my audition day. My journey towards potentially going back to school is complete for now but I am very proud to have had my work validated in this way.

Otherwise- I’m free! ;)

Kat recorded vocals on an album of new work presented by the National Endowment of The Arts and The American Theatre Wing- “The Songwriting Challenge provides each winner with a two-person coaching team—a mentor and a music director—to hone an original song into a Broadway-ready composition. Each song is then recorded by Broadway musicians and vocalists in New York City, made available on streaming music platforms, and compiled into a songbook by Concord Theatricals.”

Kat performed in a concert of new work presented by Prospect Theatre Company-

“Prospect's annual Musical Theater Lab returns with a line-up of original short musicals created by a cadre of up-and-coming artists. This year, the lab brings together writers to investigate the "rule of three": a writing principle that suggests a trio of events or characters is more humorous, satisfying, or effective than other numbers.

Kat performed “MATH” from HERE AND THEIR in New York Theatre Barn’s ~New Works Quarantine live Stream Series~ Archived live stream linked above (timestamp around 27 minutes in)

PRESS:

54 BELOW A VERY QUEER HOLIDAY: CHISMUKKUH IN JULY! (2022) - “- That is, after all, how we have all come to know and love Kathel Griffin. Griffin, who has appeared in a number of group shows, provided last night's audience with one of the highlights, a savvy performance of "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" that sets Griffin up for a solo show of their own. Kat, who is always wonderful, shone particularly bright last night, showing off a unique and beautiful voice and some authentic song-styling skills. A Kat Griffin show is in the air, hopefully sooner rather than later.”

54 BELOW VALENTINES CONCERT (2020) - In all, the evening played like a real Stars Of Tomorrow with standouts going to Preston Max Allen singing Lloyd-Webber's paean to unrequited love, and Kat Griffin with their rendition of I CHOSE RIGHT from BABY.”
